Surely you have heard of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Those magical places of special beauty, packed with adventures. Admittedly – we are a bit proud that our Dolomites are counted among them. But we are not really surprised, because sometimes the distinctive peaks of the pale mountains around Alta Badia themselves seem quite surreal to us, although you could think that we would be used to the sight after a few decades …
Fun fact: did you know that the Dolomites were under water about 250 million years ago? We could hardly believe it when we heard about it, but it really is true. At that time, a huge coral reef developed in the depths of the Tethys primeval sea and when the sea level dropped, bizarre rock formations rose out of the water – and the Dolomites were born.
Reinhold Messner once described the Dolomites as “the most beautiful construction in the world”. We think there is nothing more to add, except of course that from Hotel Störes you can enjoy incomparable views of the unique Dolomite skyline. And that here in San Cassiano you will find the ideal starting point for a wide variety of activities and experiences in the UNESCO World Heritage Site with its species-rich Puez-Geisler and Fanes-Sennes-Braies nature parks. Pretty cool, right?
